Why Now & Why Us

At the National Womens History Museum, we believe that when womens voices are heard and their stories are seen, it transforms both how women view themselves and how the world views them.

At the National Womens History Museum, we believe that when womens voices are heard and their stories are seen, it transforms both how women view themselves and how the world views them.

Every time you learn or share womens history, you help shift the narrative and expand what is possible for both women and men. Right now, that gap in representation spans 106 years, meaning it could take more than a century before women are equally reflected in our national story.

Together, we can begin to close the gap.

It will be over a century before women are equally represented in the U.S.

How you can help

These stories will no longer be whispers or footnotes. Every action you take brings us closer to a more equitable future.

These stories will no longer be whispers or footnotes—they’ll be headlines. By getting involved, the steps you take can help us reach a more equitable future—sooner.
